Personal Data
Personal data are individual pieces of information about the personal or factual circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. Information that cannot be directly or indirectly linked to your identity – such as the number of users of a website – is not considered personal data.
In the case of myBUSCH-JAEGER, this includes data you have provided to us yourself, such as registration details or contact information, or depending on the services used, other data may be added, such as bank details or information on devices assigned to your user account.
The personal data you provide to us within the scope of this online offering will be used exclusively for that purpose. We will not disclose your personal data to third parties unless you have expressly given us your consent or we are required to do so by law, court, or regulatory order. Exceptions apply to processors, whom we carefully select, bind contractually to our instructions, and oblige to strictly observe the required technical and organizational measures for data protection compliance.
Legal Bases for Processing
The processing of your personal data is necessary to achieve the purposes mentioned above. Unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of collection, the legal basis for processing your personal data is:
- the performance and fulfillment of a contract with you (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR),
- compliance with legal obligations to which we are subject (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR), or
- the safeguarding of our legitimate interests or those of third parties after a balancing of interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Our legitimate interest lies in the processing of your personal data for the purpose of providing and operating our websites and online services as well as your interest in our offerings.
In exceptional cases, we will explicitly ask for your consent to the processing of your personal data. In such cases, the legal basis is the consent you provide (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with future effect pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR.
Usage Data on the myBUSCH-JAEGER Service Platform
During each usage process, events are logged, such as which user or device accessed the system, when and for how long, or which services were used. These data are also made available to you in the form of a history. The retention period for such events is three months. Apart from that, such data are used exclusively in anonymized form for statistical purposes.
Logging
Unless an explicit storage period is stated at the time of collection, your personal data will be deleted once they are no longer required to fulfill the purpose of storage and/or the purposes described above no longer apply. Storage beyond this may take place if we are required to do so under legal provisions (e.g., commercial and tax retention obligations). In such cases, processing is restricted, and the data will be deleted once the respective legal obligation ceases or is fulfilled.

External Links
When you visit our websites, we process and store certain information about the browser and operating system you use, the date and time of your visit, the access status (e.g., whether you were able to access a website or received an error message), your use of website functions, any search terms you may have entered, the frequency with which you access individual web pages, the name of retrieved files, the volume of data transferred, the website from which you accessed our websites, and the website you visit from our websites, either by clicking on links on our websites or by entering a domain directly in the input field of the same browser tab (or window) in which you opened our websites.
In addition, we store, for security reasons—particularly to prevent and detect attacks on our websites or fraud attempts—for a period of 365 days, your IP address and the name of your Internet service provider.
Beyond that, we only process and store personal data if you provide them to us voluntarily, e.g., as part of a user account registration, a contact form, or other communication with us, such as first and last name, email address, telephone number, information provided in inquiries, comments, or forum posts. For certain online services, we may request credit card or other payment details. In such cases, we will generally provide you with separate, overriding privacy notices informing you of the extent to which we collect and process your personal data for the aforementioned processing operations, for what purposes and on what legal basis this occurs, and what rights and claims you may have as a result.
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- to enable you to use the services and functions of the Busch-Jaeger websites and their online offerings and platforms,
- to verify your identity and enable user authentication,
- to process your inquiry, e.g., regarding our products and/or Busch-Jaeger services,
- to initiate payment processing, insofar as this is necessary for carrying out payment transactions or fraud prevention,
- to enforce our Terms of Use if necessary, to assert or defend legal claims, and to prevent and combat fraudulent or similar activities, including attacks on our IT infrastructure.
User-Generated Content / Blogs
We also offer services on our websites that allow you to publish information yourself, which will then be available to other website visitors (e.g., discussion forums and blog comments). If you use these services, basic information identifying you as a “user” will be made available to other visitors of the relevant website together with the content you post. This concerns information you voluntarily provide, such as your name or a pseudonym (nickname), and possibly additional information about your place of residence as well as the name of the company or organization for which you work. You are solely responsible for deciding which data you disclose, and through your personal user profile you can control which information is displayed publicly in your posts.
We also receive information about your IP address, the number of forum posts you publish, and/or a rating showing how useful other visitors found your contributions. More information can be found on the help pages of the respective services.
Unless otherwise expressly stated at the time of collection, the legal basis for processing such personal data is the safeguarding of our legitimate interests after a balancing of interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Our legitimate interest lies in enabling your participation in forums and/or blogs and in evaluating forum and/or blog activity for the purpose of improving our services and offerings.
Transmission and Disclosure of Personal Data
ABB may transfer your personal data to other ABB companies if this is necessary in connection with our online offerings and the operation of the websites and offerings and/or online platforms, to respond to your inquiry, and/or to initiate, perform, or conclude a business relationship with ABB companies. A list of ABB subsidiaries can be found on the ABB website (List of ABB subsidiaries | Privacy policies).
Disclosure also takes place to service providers processing data on our behalf in the course of providing services (e.g., IT maintenance service providers), or to courts, arbitration bodies, authorities, or legal advisors, where this is required to comply with applicable law, or to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Where we transfer your personal data to ABB companies, we implement ABB Group’s data protection policies and safeguards to ensure that personal data are processed consistently throughout the Group in compliance with the applicable data protection laws.
Some ABB companies are located in countries whose data protection laws may not provide a level of protection equivalent to that of your country of residence. In such cases, we take measures to ensure appropriate and adequate safeguards for the protection of personal data. We will therefore only transfer your personal data to ABB companies in such countries or to other external service providers if they (i) have entered into EU Standard Contractual Clauses with us, (ii) have implemented Binding Corporate Rules, or (iii) – in the case of recipients located in the USA – are certified under the EU/US Data Privacy Framework.
In the event of a transfer of ownership of parts of ABB, such as acquisition by or merger with other companies, we will, where required by law, notify you and request your consent before personal data are transferred and thus become subject to another privacy policy.
